TRAINing in Catholic Apologetics (Part 2)
We turned the conversation to the authority of scripture and the Catholic church. We pointed out that if the Bible was the only source of authority in matters of faith, then the Bible should state that or else the teaching would not be from the Bible. He started spouting off verses, so we pulled out our Bible and started looking them up with him. Unfortunately, he was very ill trained on handleing this question, because the verses he gave us had nothing at all to do with the Bible, the church, or Sacred Tradition. We followed up with 1 Tim. 3:15 where the Church (not the Bible) is called, “the pillar and foundation of truth.” With that, convienently reached his destination and departed the train.
