In the tradiontion of Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict is publishing his first major book on the gospels.  In Jesus of Nazareth, Pope Benedict attacks the current hereseys centered around the belief that Christians have misinturpreted the historical Jesus.  In fact, Pope Benedict lays our 2000 years of historical evidence that shows how Christian understanding of Jesus today is the only understanding the makes sense in light of the historical evidence.  While the Da Vinci Code and the Tomb of Jesus producers seek to lead the faithful away from the historical Jesus with the smoke and mirrors of the media, Pope Benedict calls the faithful back to the true Jesus that the faithful have followed for centuries.  Due out in March, this will be one of the most signifcant books out this year in the Catholic marketplace.
